Corfu

Corfu by Yacht

Corfu is the northernmost of the main Ionian Islands, close to the Albanian coast and greener than most of Greece. It has an international airport, a Venetian old town listed by UNESCO and marina facilities that make it a practical base for the northern Ionian.

Guests charter here for the Venetian old town, the clear water off Paxos and Antipaxos, sheltered north-east coast anchorages and easy flights and provisioning. A yacht keeps all of it within reach without daily transfers, and the crew shapes each day around the weather, the sea state and how much time you want at anchor rather than under way.

Lund Group arranges private charters in Corfu on motor yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans and full superyachts. We present only what genuinely suits your dates, guest numbers and pace, confirm every detail with the central agent before it is proposed, and never describe a yacht, berth or shore arrangement as available until it is held in writing.

The Corfu season runs from roughly May to October. June and September are particularly pleasant; July and August are hotter and busier, and berths in the old port and nearby marinas are in higher demand.

Cruising

Cruising Corfu

A week from Corfu usually works south to Paxos and Antipaxos, with swimming stops along the east coast and evenings in small harbours. Crossings to the Albanian Riviera are possible with the correct clearance.

Longer itineraries continue south through Lefkada and Meganisi towards Ithaca, or north towards Montenegro and the Croatian islands.

Embarkation

Boarding at Gouvia Marina

Most Corfu charters begin at Gouvia Marina, a short drive north of Corfu Town and the airport. It offers provisioning, fuel and crew services in one place. Some guests prefer to board off Corfu Town or at an anchorage, particularly on larger yachts.

Published maximum-vessel figures for Gouvia differ between sources. A marina being able to take a yacht of a given size does not mean a berth is free on your dates, so we confirm a berth or anchorage for each yacht and date. The largest superyachts may embark at anchor by tender.

Arrival

Corfu Airport to the Yacht

Corfu International Airport sits close to Corfu Town, and the transfer to Gouvia is usually short by car, depending on traffic and season. Private and business aircraft can use Corfu subject to slots, handling and any prior-permission requirements.

We arrange private jets, cars and, where suitable, helicopter transfers through independent operators, and time the arrival to the yacht's boarding window rather than promise exact times.

Around Corfu

Old Town, the North-East and the West Coast

Corfu itself can fill several days before heading south.

  • Corfu Old Town from the water: the Old and New Fortresses and the Venetian waterfront, with an evening ashore.
  • North-East Corfu: Kassiopi, Agni, Kalami and the green bays facing the Albanian coast, among the most sheltered water around the island.
  • Paleokastritsa and the west coast: dramatic cliffs and caves, visited when the weather allows, as the west side is more exposed.
  • A signature local day: Gouvia, along the north-east coast for a swim and lunch, back towards the Old Town at sunset.

South of Corfu

Paxos and Antipaxos

Paxos is the classic first passage south from Corfu: Gaios harbour, Lakka bay and the sea caves of the west coast. Antipaxos, just beyond, is known for clear-water swimming bays.

Both work as a day out on a faster yacht or as the core of a relaxed week. The order and timing are set by the captain around wind and sea state.

Optional extensions

Syvota and Parga on the Mainland

The Epirus coast opposite Corfu adds variety: the islets and lagoons around Syvota, and the hillside town of Parga. They pair naturally with Paxos and are added when the route and weather suit.

Continue south

Finishing in Lefkada or Kefalonia

A one-way charter from Corfu can finish in Lefkada, or in Kefalonia on a longer trip, linking the Northern Ionian with the central islands. Whether a one-way is possible, and any delivery or repositioning fee, is confirmed per yacht before contract.

Cross-border

Albania and Beyond

Corfu lies a short distance from the Albanian coast, which makes cross-border routes possible. Crossing into Albania is not ordinary island hopping: it involves exit and entry formalities, the yacht's eligibility to operate in both countries and extra costs such as agents and fees.

The Albanian Riviera and, on longer charters, Montenegro can be considered. We confirm each cross-border route case by case before proposing it.

Day charters

A Day on the Water from Corfu

Day charters suit the north-east coast or a fast run to Paxos and Antipaxos. Not every yacht offers day charters, and many larger yachts take weekly bookings only. Availability, guest numbers and the boarding point are confirmed per yacht.

Costs and compliance

What a Corfu Charter Costs

The advertised rate covers the yacht and crew. It is not the total charter cost. Rates are shown in the yacht's original currency.

  • Base rate for the agreed period, as quoted by the yacht.
  • APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) for fuel, food and drink, port fees and extras. The captain accounts for it and returns any balance.
  • Greek VAT and any applicable charter taxes, with the structure set out in the contract.
  • Delivery, repositioning or cross-border fees where relevant.
  • Greek commercial charter documentation, including the electronic charter permission and charter party, which we verify for each yacht and date. Nothing on this page claims authorisation for any particular yacht.

Yachts and families

Which Yacht Suits Corfu

Sailing yachts and catamarans suit the short, sheltered passages of the Northern Ionian. Motor yachts cover Paxos, the mainland and one-way routes south most comfortably. Guest capacity follows each yacht's permitted charter capacity.

Water toys, stabilisers, tender size and family set-ups differ by yacht and are confirmed per yacht.

Weather and season

When to Charter in Corfu

The season runs roughly May to October. June and September are often quieter, and July and August are busiest. Corfu is greener and generally more sheltered than the Cyclades, but afternoon breezes and changeable days still happen. The captain has the final say on each day's route.

Compare

Corfu, the Wider Ionian or the Cyclades?

Choose Corfu for an easy arrival, the Old Town, Paxos and Antipaxos, and optional Albanian or mainland extensions. The Ionian Islands page plans the whole region, including Lefkada, Ithaca, Kefalonia and Zakynthos. The Cyclades are drier and more exposed, with the Meltemi wind, more nightlife and iconic island names.
