Superyacht hull under construction inside a covered shipyard hall

Yacht Division

New Build & Build Slots

Representation for owners commissioning a new yacht, and for owners considering an existing build position rather than a multi-year programme.

What we do for a new build client

We act for the owner, not for a yard. That means shaping the brief before any shipyard is approached, identifying which yards realistically build the yacht being described, and running the commercial process through contract, supervision and delivery alongside the owner's lawyer and technical team.

We hold no dealership, agency or exclusive appointment with any shipyard. Where a yard, designer or supervision practice is introduced, the relationship and terms are disclosed.

  • Brief definition: use pattern, cruising grounds, guest and crew numbers, budget envelope.
  • Yard selection against the brief, not against a preferred list.
  • Support through contract negotiation with the owner's maritime lawyer.
  • Coordination of naval architecture, interior design and build supervision.
  • Delivery, warranty period and the transition into operation.

Build slots and delivery positions

Yard capacity is limited, and an available slot can be worth as much as the design itself. Positions occasionally arise when a contract is assigned, and part-built hulls are sometimes offered with a materially shorter delivery timetable than a new order.

Availability changes constantly and is never assumed here. Tell us the length, delivery window and budget envelope you are working to, and we will confirm what genuinely exists in writing with the yard or contracting party.

Custom, semi-custom or series

Full-custom construction gives the widest freedom and the longest programme. Semi-custom shortens the timetable by building on a proven platform. Series construction is the quickest route and the most predictable on price.

The right answer depends on how specific the brief is, how firm the delivery date needs to be, and how the yacht will be used in its first three seasons.

If speed matters more than specification

For many owners, a recent brokerage yacht with a documented refit history is the better commercial decision: available now, priced by the market, and with a known operating record. We are equally happy to run that comparison honestly before a new build contract is signed.

Lund Group is an independent yacht consultancy and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or an agent of any shipyard named on this site. Shipyard names are used for reference only. No availability, delivery position, specification or price is offered here; every position is confirmed in writing with the yard or central agent before anything is committed.
