Where to anchor
Illetes, Espalmador and the Formentera coast
Ses Illetes
A long spit of white sand and shallow turquoise water on the north of the island, within the Ses Salines protected area. The classic Formentera anchorage.
Espalmador
A small, largely undeveloped islet just north of Formentera, with a sheltered bay. Anchoring is regulated to protect the seagrass.
Cala Saona
A west-facing cove framed by low red cliffs, well known for calm water and sunsets.
Migjorn and the south
A long, open southern coastline with quieter beaches, best visited in settled conditions.
Es Pujols
The island's liveliest beach area on the north-east coast, with restaurants a short tender ride ashore.
La Savina
Formentera's harbour and marina. Berths are limited in summer; many yachts anchor offshore and use the tender.

Ibiza to Formentera and back
Morning
Leave Ibiza and cross the channel to Espalmador for an early swim.
Midday
Anchor off Illetes; lunch aboard or ashore, subject to availability.
Afternoon
Paddleboards and snorkelling in the shallows, or on to Cala Saona.
Evening
Sunset at anchor, then back to Ibiza or stay overnight.

Day charters from Ibiza
The most popular way to see Formentera: a short crossing from Ibiza, a day at anchor and back by evening. Day prices are shown only where the operator has supplied them.
Overnight and weekend
Staying overnight means the anchorages after the day boats leave. Two or three nights combine Formentera with Ibiza's quieter coves.
Weekly charters
A week lets you pair Formentera and Ibiza, or extend to Mallorca and the wider Balearics, weather permitting.

Ibiza offers marinas, restaurants, nightlife and the airport. Formentera offers quieter anchorages, shallow turquoise water and a slower pace.
Most charters combine the two: base in Ibiza and cross to Formentera for the day, or split a week between them.

Posidonia, Ses Salines and Espalmador
Posidonia oceanica seagrass keeps Formentera's water so clear. It is protected across the Balearics: anchoring on it is prohibited, and inspections and fines apply. Captains anchor on sand or use permitted moorings.
Illetes and Espalmador lie within the Ses Salines natural park, where rules on anchoring and moorings apply and can change by season. Your captain plans every stop within the current regulations.

How Much Does a Yacht Charter in Formentera Cost?
Day charters
We only publish day rates supplied by operators, and only when enough yachts share them. Ask us for current day rates for your date.
Weekly charters
We only publish weekly ranges when enough listed yachts share a size band. Ask us for current rates.
Your total charter budget
The charter fee covers the yacht and crew. Depending on the yacht, contract and itinerary, Spanish VAT and local Balearic fees may apply, plus fuel (often extra on day charters), port and mooring fees, an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) on weekly charters, and a customary crew gratuity at your discretion. We set out every element in writing before you sign.
Timing & travel
When to go and getting to Formentera
The season runs from about May to October. June and September are warm and quieter; July and August are the peak, when anchorages fill early.
Formentera has no airport. Fly into Ibiza on a private jet, then board in Ibiza or transfer across the channel. We also arrange helicopter transfers and villas.
