Formentera is the smallest of the inhabited Balearic islands, lying a short passage south of Ibiza across the Es Freus channel. It is low, flat and edged with pale sand, and the shallow water between the two islands takes on the luminous turquoise the archipelago is known for. The Balearic season runs from roughly May to early October, with the warmest water and longest days in July and August. June and September are calmer and easier for anchoring off Formentera, and peak August weeks are the hardest to secure, so early enquiries give you more choice of yacht.
