Cruising Antigua

English Harbour, on Antigua's south coast, is home to Nelson's Dockyard, a restored Georgian naval dockyard and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. It remains a working yachting harbour and a natural place to begin or end a charter.
Shoreside you will find restaurants, the historic buildings of the dockyard and Shirley Heights above the harbour, known for its views at sunset. Berths and embarkation arrangements are confirmed per yacht and date.

Barbuda Yacht Charter
Barbuda lies to the north of Antigua and is known for long, quiet beaches with pale pink sand and for the Codrington Lagoon frigate bird colony, one of the largest in the region.
The approach to Barbuda is low-lying and surrounded by reefs, so a passage there depends on good light, calm conditions and the captain's judgement. Some anchorages suit smaller yachts or tenders better than large superyachts.

When to charter
The Best Time for an Antigua Yacht Charter
The main Caribbean charter season runs from roughly December to April, with trade winds and generally settled weather. The Christmas and New Year period is the busiest and books well ahead.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November. Many yachts reposition elsewhere during these months, and any charter then needs flexible planning and careful weather monitoring.

Antigua Yacht Charter Cost
The cost of a yacht charter in Antigua depends on the yacht's size, age and crew, the season and dates, the length of the charter and any positioning to or from the island. We quote each yacht individually and do not publish estimated ranges.
On top of the charter rate, charters normally include an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) — a deposit held by the captain for running costs such as fuel, food, drinks and berthing. It is accounted for during the charter and any unused balance is returned. Local taxes and gratuities are confirmed in the contract.
