The Caribbean

Winter sun, trade winds and islands that each feel different

The Caribbean is not one destination but a chain of island groups, each with its own character, rules and rhythm. The social anchorages of St Barts, the sheltered sailing of the British Virgin Islands and the quiet bays of the Grenadines call for different yachts and routes.

Lund Group curates weekly and multi-week yacht and superyacht charters across the region, and arranges the jets, transfers and stays around them. Every yacht and date is confirmed with the owner's representatives before it is offered to you.

Where to charter in the Caribbean

St Barts

The Caribbean's most social superyacht anchorage, with Gustavia, fine dining and beautiful beaches. Busiest over Christmas and New Year.

Explore →

British Virgin Islands

Short, sheltered passages and many anchorages, making it one of the world's great sailing grounds. Good for families and first-time charterers.

Explore →

Antigua

A historic yachting centre with English Harbour and Falmouth, famous for its many beaches and its spring regattas.

Explore →

The Grenadines

A chain of small islands between St Vincent and Grenada, with the Tobago Cays, Mustique and Bequia. Quieter and more remote.

Explore →

St Lucia

Volcanic peaks, rainforest and the Pitons. A common starting point for Windward Islands routes.

Explore →

St Martin / Sint Maarten

A shared French and Dutch island with a major superyacht hub and international airport, and the usual gateway to St Barts and Anguilla.

Anguilla

Low-lying and calm, known for long white beaches, clear water and a relaxed pace, a short hop from St Martin.

Grenada

The spice island at the southern end of the Grenadines, with a marine park and quieter anchorages.

US Virgin Islands

St Thomas and St John sit next to the British Virgin Islands and suit US-based guests. Entry rules differ between the two.

Leeward or Windward

Two very different ways to cruise

Leeward Islands

St Martin, St Barts, Anguilla and Antigua: short hops, lively anchorages and fine dining ashore. Popular with motor yachts and superyachts over the holidays.

Windward Islands

St Lucia, the Grenadines and Grenada: greener, quieter islands and longer passages with steady trade winds. A favourite with sailing yachts and catamarans.

The holidays

Christmas and New Year charters

Book early

The festive weeks are the busiest of the Caribbean season. The most sought-after yachts are often reserved many months ahead.

Minimum terms

Many yachts ask for a minimum charter length and a premium rate over Christmas and New Year. We confirm the exact terms for each yacht.

St Barts on New Year's Eve

Gustavia is one of the region's best-known New Year anchorages. Space is limited, so plans are set well in advance.

Understanding your total charter budget

The charter fee covers the yacht and crew. On top of it you should expect local VAT or charter taxes, which vary by island and flag; an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) for fuel, food, drink and dockage; possible delivery fees; cruising permits; holiday premiums; and a customary crew gratuity at your discretion. We set out every element in writing before you sign.

Timing & travel

When to go and how to arrive

The main season runs from about December to April. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, and many yachts leave for the Mediterranean in spring.

Charters usually start in St Martin, Antigua, Tortola, St Lucia or St Vincent. One-way routes between islands are common, subject to the yacht's terms.

St Martin, Antigua and St Lucia receive long-haul and private flights. We arrange private jets and helicopter or short island transfers, including to St Barts.

Caribbean or Bahamas

Two different winter charter regions

The Caribbean offers taller, greener islands, trade-wind sailing and a strong dining and social scene. The Bahamas, in the Atlantic, offer shallow turquoise water, remote cays and quick access from Florida. Some yachts cruise both in a season; we will advise on the right fit.

Why Lund Group
