The quieter Balearic
Menorca is the most easterly of the Balearic Islands and the least developed of the three main ones. Its south coast is cut with narrow limestone calas backed by pine. The north is rockier and more exposed. Mahón, on the east side, is one of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean.
A charter here is about calas, natural harbours and days built around the wind. Passages are short, so most of the day is spent at anchor, swimming and eating on board. The crew picks the north or south coast according to the forecast.

A protected island
The whole of Menorca has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993, and the north coast includes a marine reserve. Charters here follow the island's conservation rules, which help keep the water clear and the coast unspoilt.
Anchoring
Posidonia oceanica, the protected seagrass that keeps Balearic water so clear, cannot be anchored on. Crews anchor on sand or use regulated buoys, and this sometimes decides where a yacht can stop.

Harbours
Menorca's main yachting harbour
One of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean, on the island's east coast. Marinas, a yacht club and repair facilities line the inlet, and it is the most common embarkation point for larger yachts. Suitability for a given yacht depends on the specific facility, so we confirm the berth for your yacht and dates.

Menorca's western port
A historic waterfront below the old city, and the natural bridge towards Mallorca. Its harbour is narrow. Large yachts usually need a separate plan: another berth, an anchorage with tender access or a different harbour, chosen by the captain for the specific yacht.
Ports IB's directly bookable berths are designed for vessels up to about 12m LOA / 4m beam. Larger yachts are assessed individually.
North-coast natural harbour
A protected bay on the north coast, close to the marine reserve and the gateway to Menorca's wilder side. The Badia de Fornells buoy field is regulated separately from port berths.

South coast
The south is where most days are spent: limestone calas with pine down to the water, sand bottoms for anchoring and shelter when the wind blows from the north. The best-known calas get busy at midday in July and August, so crews often arrive early or stay late.
North coast
The north is quieter, with darker rock, open bays and Fornells. It is more exposed to the tramontana, the north wind, so north-coast days depend on the forecast. If conditions are not right, the captain will keep the yacht in the south. North-coast access is never guaranteed.

These are examples, not contractual routes. A full round-island week depends on the weather; the captain decides each day's route for safety, sea conditions and regulations.
More islands
Mallorca is a short passage from Ciutadella, so a week can combine Menorca's calas with Mallorca's harbours and coast, weather permitting.
Longer charters can continue south-west to Ibiza and Formentera. Sardinia, to the east, is possible on the right yacht with a good weather window.
Cost
There is no single "Menorca rate". The price depends on the yacht, the dates and the length of the charter, and the rate is not the total cost. We quote every item in writing before you commit.
The yacht's weekly or daily rate for your dates. It varies by yacht, season and length of charter.
The Advance Provisioning Allowance covers fuel, food, drink and port costs. The percentage is set by each yacht and contract, not a fixed rule.
Spanish VAT usually applies to charters in Spanish waters. The rate and how it is applied depend on the yacht and contract.
Berths and buoy-field fees in Menorca are charged separately and depend on the yacht and the facility.
Depends on the yacht, speed and distance. Menorca's short passages can keep fuel use modest.
If a yacht is based elsewhere, a fee may apply to bring it to Menorca.
The Advance Provisioning Allowance is a fund paid to the captain before the charter. It covers costs such as fuel, food and drink, and port fees. The captain keeps a record of spending and returns any unused balance. The amount is set by the yacht and the charter contract.

Peak season. The most popular calas are crowded at midday, so book early and anchor early.

Warm water, fewer boats, often the best balance.

Ibiza is about beach clubs, nightlife and a fast pace. Menorca is quieter: swimming, sailing and calm evenings. Many guests prefer Menorca for families or a slower week.
Mallorca has more marinas, restaurants and variety. Menorca is smaller and calmer, with more natural calas. The two combine easily in one week.
Sheltered calas suit children and confident swimmers alike. Snorkelling is excellent over sand and rock. Water toys depend on the yacht and local rules, and some areas, such as the north-coast marine reserve, limit activities.

Fly privately into Menorca Airport (MAH), a short drive from Mahón.
Chauffeured transfers between the airport, villa and yacht.
