The Maldives is a chain of atolls south-west of Sri Lanka, made up of coral islands and lagoons scattered across a vast area of ocean. Yachts cruise between atolls, anchoring inside lagoons, and much of the appeal is underwater: reefs, channels and manta and whale shark sites.

Guests charter here for diving and snorkelling on atoll reefs, surf breaks in the central atolls, empty anchorages between resort islands and long, warm days with little seasonal variation. Charters run through much of the year, with the dry north-east monsoon from roughly December to April generally offering the calmest conditions and best visibility. The south-west monsoon brings more wind and rain but also suits surfing itineraries.
