The Seychelles inner islands sit in the western Indian Ocean and are unusual in being granite rather than coral: smooth boulders, steep green interiors and short passages between Mahé, Praslin, La Digue and the surrounding islets. The outer atolls lie much further out.
Guests charter here for granite beaches and sheltered anchorages, short passages between the inner islands, snorkelling and marine national parks and catamarans well suited to the area. A yacht keeps all of it within reach without daily transfers, and the crew shapes each day around the weather, the sea state and how much time you want at anchor rather than under way.

The Seychelles are warm year-round. Conditions are generally calmest between the monsoons, around April to May and October to November, while the south-east trades from May to September bring steadier wind and the north-west monsoon more rain.

A week typically works between Mahé, Praslin, La Digue and nearby islets, with anchorages a short hop apart, several marine parks to snorkel and easy tender access to beaches.
Most charters stay in the inner islands. Trips to the outer atolls such as Aldabra require long passages, specific permits and a suitable yacht, and are planned separately.

Where to Cruise in the Seychelles
Most charters stay within the Inner Islands, where passages between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue are short enough to leave most of each day for the water and the shore. Routes are adjusted to the trade winds and sea state on the day.

Arrival & embarkation
Mahé
Mahé is the largest island and home to the international airport and the capital, Victoria. Most yachts embark guests on Mahé, often at Eden Island or in the Victoria area, subject to the yacht and itinerary.
Its north-west and south-west coasts offer beaches and anchorages for a first or final night aboard, and the island suits shorter charters or a few days at sea combined with a resort stay.
Marine park
Sainte Anne Marine Area
Just off Mahé, the Sainte Anne marine area surrounds a group of small islands and offers sheltered snorkelling close to the departure point. Protected-area rules and any fees apply and are confirmed before each visit.
Inner Islands
Praslin
Praslin, the second-largest island, is known for beaches such as Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette and for the Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of the coco de mer palm. Shore visits are arranged around the yacht's anchorage.
Praslin is commonly the hub of a week-long itinerary, with La Digue, Curieuse and Cousin all close by.
Inner Islands
La Digue
La Digue is small, quiet and largely explored by bicycle. Its granite beaches — Anse Source d'Argent is the best known — are among the most photographed in the islands. Guests usually go ashore by tender, and some beaches are reached through private estates with access arrangements.
Protected island
Curieuse
Curieuse lies just north of Praslin within a marine national park. It is known for giant tortoises and mangroves. Visits follow park rules and any applicable fees, which are confirmed in advance.
Nature reserve
Cousin Island
Cousin is a managed nature reserve with important seabird colonies. Visits are restricted and typically guided at set times; landing arrangements and rules are confirmed before the island is included.
Quieter waters
Félicité, Coco and the Sisters
East of La Digue, Félicité, Île Cocos and the Sisters offer quieter anchorages and snorkelling. Some are protected, and access depends on weather, sea state and current rules — a good reason to keep an itinerary flexible.
Remote & mountainous
Silhouette Island
Silhouette, north-west of Mahé, is steep, forested and much of it protected. It suits guests looking for a more remote feel on the way to or from Mahé, conditions permitting.
Two very different charters
Inner Islands vs Outer Islands
The Inner Islands are granite, close together and suited to classic island-hopping charters. The Outer Islands are coral atolls and islands spread across hundreds of nautical miles of open ocean, with very limited infrastructure.
Outer Island cruising is an expedition undertaking: it needs a capable, self-sufficient yacht, long passages, careful weather planning, specific permissions and often chartered air access. It is planned individually and is not part of a standard week.
Expedition only
Aldabra
Aldabra is a remote raised coral atoll and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, managed for conservation. Visits are strictly controlled, require permission from the relevant authorities and are subject to visitor limits and rules.
Lund Group can discuss expedition yachts able to support such a journey, but an Aldabra visit can never be promised. Any plan depends on permits, the yacht's capability, the season and conditions.

Luxury Catamaran Charter in the Seychelles
Crewed luxury catamarans are among the most popular ways to charter in the Seychelles. Their shallow draft suits anchorages close to beaches, their stability is comfortable at anchor, and their wide decks give couples and families space.
We arrange fully crewed catamarans with a captain, chef or host, rather than bareboat rentals. Cabin layout, crew, water toys and air conditioning vary by yacht and are confirmed individually.
Under sail
Sailing Yachts
The south-east trade winds make the Inner Islands rewarding for sailing yachts, with short passages between islands. Larger sailing yachts may be more limited in the shallowest anchorages, which is factored into the route.
Space & range
Motor Yachts and Superyachts
Motor yachts and superyachts bring more space, tenders, water toys and crew. Fewer are positioned in the Seychelles, so many are delivered from elsewhere in the Indian Ocean or beyond, and a delivery fee may apply.
Explorer and expedition-capable yachts are relevant mainly for Outer Island journeys.
Below the surface
Diving
Granite reefs, swim-throughs and fish life make diving in the Seychelles distinctive. Diving is arranged on yachts verified as dive-equipped, or with qualified local providers where appropriate — never assumed.
Certification, local rules and marine-park regulations apply. Whale shark and other wildlife encounters are seasonal and can never be guaranteed.
Marine parks
Snorkelling and Marine Parks
Several marine parks and protected areas — including Sainte Anne and Curieuse — offer accessible snorkelling from the yacht or tender. Fees and rules apply and visibility varies with the season.

These sample routes are illustrative. Real routes depend on the yacht, wind, sea state and current rules, and are planned with the captain for your dates.
- Three to four days: Mahé, Sainte Anne and the west coast, ending with a resort stay
- Seven days classic: Mahé → Praslin → Curieuse → La Digue → Félicité or the Sisters → back to Mahé
- Seven to ten days relaxed: fewer moves, longer stays at Praslin and La Digue, plus Silhouette
- Expedition: Inner Islands followed by an individually planned Outer Islands programme, permits permitting
When to go
When to Charter in the Seychelles
The Seychelles are warm all year. The transition months around April–May and October–November are often calmest. The south-east trades, roughly May to September, bring steadier wind and livelier seas on some passages; the north-west monsoon, roughly December to March, is warmer with more rain. Routes are chosen to suit the conditions.

How Much Does a Seychelles Yacht Charter Cost?
Cost depends on the yacht, its size and crew, the season, duration and inclusions. On top of the charter fee there is usually an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), applicable taxes and, where relevant, park fees and a delivery or repositioning fee. We quote each yacht individually and state every element in writing.
- APA: an advance budget for fuel, food, drinks and local fees, with unused funds returned
- Positioning: few large yachts are based in the Seychelles year-round; a delivery fee may apply
- Marine park and landing fees are confirmed in advance
Who it suits
Family Charters, Honeymoons and Couples
Calm anchorages, short passages and beaches make the Inner Islands well suited to families, with cabin layout, safety equipment and crew experience with children checked in advance.
For honeymoons and couples, a smaller crewed catamaran or sailing yacht offers privacy, with quiet anchorages, private dinners and time ashore planned around your pace.

Many guests combine a few days aboard with a stay at a resort on Mahé, Praslin, La Digue or a private island. Visits to resorts from the yacht depend on each resort's policy and are arranged in advance. Lund Group is not affiliated with any resort named on this page.

International arrivals land at Seychelles International Airport on Mahé. Domestic flights, helicopter transfers and ferries connect to Praslin and other islands, subject to schedules and availability.

The Seychelles offer granite islands, forested interiors and more to explore ashore, with short sailing passages that suit catamarans and sailing yachts. The Maldives are coral atolls focused on lagoons, reefs and marine life, with the yacht spending most of its time at anchor. Some guests combine both on one trip.
For a different setting, the Red Sea offers desert coastlines and reef diving closer to Europe and the Gulf.
