Saint Lucia is a volcanic island of rainforest slopes and deep west-coast bays. By yacht, Rodney Bay, Marigot Bay, Soufrière and the Pitons connect without winding mountain roads, and Martinique lies just north.
The leeward west coast is usually more sheltered than the Atlantic side, but swell, wind and squalls still shape each day. The Pitons sit inside a managed marine area where yachts use designated moorings, so the route is planned around what is permitted rather than what looks closest.

When the yacht is large, clearance needs to be simple, or the route heads north to Martinique. Closest to George F. L. Charles Airport and Pigeon Island.
Choose Marigot Bay
When the first evening matters more than infrastructure: a sheltered bay, central on the west coast, between Rodney Bay and Soufrière. Fit is confirmed per yacht.

Season & weather
When to Charter in Saint Lucia
December – April
The main Caribbean season: steadier trade winds and drier weather. Christmas and New Year weeks book early and often carry minimum terms.
May – June
Quieter and warm. A good shoulder period when yachts are still positioned in the Caribbean.
June – November
Atlantic hurricane season. Charters are possible but plans stay flexible and some yachts relocate; we never describe any month as storm-free.
Pitons: designated moorings only
The Pitons Management Area is a UNESCO World Heritage site, but the listing is not the mooring regulation. Yachts use designated moorings allocated locally, fees apply, and no mooring is promised. We never plan random anchoring under the Pitons.
Clearance & entry
Rodney Bay, Marigot Bay, Soufrière, Castries and Vieux Fort are points of entry. A point of entry is not instant clearance: office hours, passports and crew lists apply, and international routes to Martinique or the Grenadines clear out and in each time.
Toys, diving & hikes
Water toys depend on the yacht and marine-area zones; diving is arranged with licensed local centres. Gros Piton hikes need a guide and a good level of fitness; they are booked separately.

Yachts above Rodney Bay's published 86.8m usually anchor off and use the tender; the plan is agreed in advance.

The yacht and crew for the agreed period. Rates depend on the yacht, dates and route; the base rate is not the total cost.
APA
Advance Provisioning Allowance for fuel, food, drink, marina fees and permits. Accounted for by the captain; unused balance returned.
Marine-area & mooring fees
Current protected-area mooring fees are confirmed before the itinerary is finalised.
Tax
Applicable charter taxes depend on the yacht, the contract and the waters visited, and are confirmed in writing.
Positioning
A Caribbean-based yacht may still need to reposition to Saint Lucia; any delivery fee is shown before contract.
One-way charters
Ending in the Grenadines or Martinique needs the owner's approval and may add a redelivery fee.

The international airport in the south, near Vieux Fort. Long-haul and many private flights arrive here; the road north to Rodney Bay takes time, so we plan it per arrival.

The smaller airport at Castries, close to Rodney Bay and Marigot. Suited to regional and some private aircraft.
Helicopter
Transfers between airports and the coast depend on operators, landing sites and weather, and are confirmed separately.
