Light Jets

Light jets are built for efficient regional private travel, especially when the priority is reaching the right airport with the right aircraft rather than carrying more cabin than the mission requires.

At a glance

Light Jets in Brief

Passengers

Typically 4–7, depending on model and cabin layout.

Typical mission

Regional sectors of roughly one to three hours.

Luggage

Soft bags and a few suitcases; capacity varies widely by model.

Cabin

Seated cabin; most light jets have no stand-up headroom.

The answer

What Is a Light Jet, and When Should I Charter One?

A light jet is a smaller business jet designed for regional sectors. It makes sense when the party is small, the luggage is moderate and the flight is around one to three hours. Every flight is operated by a licensed operator; LUND GROUP does not own aircraft.

Executives on regional business

Same-day meetings between European cities.

Couples and small families

Weekend and holiday sectors with moderate luggage.

Access-led trips

Airports closer to the destination, where the aircraft and runway suit.

Know the limits

When a Light Jet Is Not the Right Aircraft

More than 6–7 passengers

Consider midsize or larger.

Lots of luggage

Golf bags, skis or many hard suitcases may not fit.

Long sectors

Beyond about three hours, cabin comfort and range favour larger aircraft.

Standing room

If you need to stand or move around, choose a larger cabin.

A private lavatory

Lavatory privacy varies by model; some are curtained or belted seats.

Practicalities

Passengers, Range, Baggage and Cabin

Passenger capacity

Manufacturer maximums include crew and high-density layouts; charter cabins usually seat fewer, more comfortably.

Range

Published range is a maximum. Passengers, baggage, weather, winds, temperature and reserves all reduce it.

Baggage

Capacity varies by model; heavy or bulky items are confirmed with the operator before departure.

Cabin height

Most light jets have a seated cabin. Comfortable for short flights, less so for long ones.

Lavatory

Ranges from a fully enclosed lavatory on some models to a basic facility on others. Confirmed per aircraft.

Wifi

Connectivity depends on the individual aircraft and its installation, not the model.

Airport access

Light jets can suit some shorter runways and smaller airports, subject to aircraft performance, conditions and approvals.

Compare

Light Jets vs Other Categories

Light jet vs midsize

Light: Smaller cabin, lower cost, shorter sectors.

Midsize: More cabin, baggage and range; often stand-up or near stand-up.

Light jet vs super midsize

Light: Efficient for regional hops.

Super midsize: Stand-up cabin, transcontinental range and much more comfort on longer flights.

Light jet vs turboprop

Light: Faster and higher; better for longer regional legs.

Turboprop: Can suit very short or unpaved strips; slower.

Where Does the Pilatus PC-24 Fit?

Pilatus calls the PC-24 a "Super Versatile Jet". It sits near the boundary between light and larger aircraft, with a larger cabin and strong short-field versatility, so we do not list it as a light jet. Ask us if it suits your mission.

There Is No Single Best Light Jet

The right aircraft depends on passengers, luggage, distance, airport and budget. We compare the light jets actually available for your date rather than recommend one model for every trip.

Missions

Light Jets in Europe and the Mediterranean

Nice → Milan

A short business or leisure hop well within light-jet range.

Destination page

London → Geneva

A classic finance and ski sector; luggage drives the choice in winter.

Destination page

Saint-Tropez

Light jets are often considered where La Môle's runway and approvals suit the aircraft.

Destination page

Cannes

Cannes-Mandelieu suits many light jets; suitability is confirmed per flight.

Destination page

Island airports

Smaller Mediterranean islands can favour smaller aircraft, subject to runway and approvals.

Destination page

High & hot

Heat and altitude reduce performance and payload; the operator calculates this for the date and load.

Travel styles

Business, Family, Ski and Pets

Same-day business

Out and back in one day, with the aircraft waiting.

Family weekends

Short sectors with soft bags and flexible timing.

Ski travel

Skis and winter luggage can quickly exceed a light jet's hold; we check volume first.

Depends on operator policy and entry rules; confirmed before booking.
