Two different markets
20–24m and 24–30m
20–24m
0 listed
Mostly production and semi-custom models from large series builders. Some are run by their owners, others with a captain. Easier to berth, and the widest choice of sisterships to compare.
Source privately →24–30m
0 listed
Larger volume, often with crew quarters and a professional captain. More yachts here are semi-custom, and certification, crew and running costs usually step up.

About the 24-metre threshold
Many flag states apply large-yacht safety codes and load line rules from 24 metres — but that is usually measured as load line length, not length overall. A yacht advertised as 25m may or may not fall under those rules. We never label a yacht “under 24m” or “over 24m” for regulatory purposes from its brochure length. Confirm the yacht's certificates with its flag, class society and surveyor.
How you will use it
Owner-operated or professionally crewed
Some owners helm and run smaller yachts in this range themselves; others employ a captain and crew. Neither is “required” by length alone — it depends on the yacht's systems, your qualifications, flag, cruising area and whether it is used privately or for charter.
- Owner-operated: helm station visibility, docking aids and thrusters matter most
- Crewed: separate crew cabins, galley access and crew mess
- Captain-only: a common middle path in this size
- Licences and qualifications depend on flag and use
- Crew cost is one of the largest running costs

Flybridge
The most common layout in this size, with an upper helm and social deck. Check the flybridge structure and hardtop.
Performance / sport
Planing hulls built for speed. Fuel burn, engine hours and drive condition matter most.
Long-range / displacement
Slower, efficient hulls with longer range. Check tankage and stabilisation.
Model and generation
Why the model matters more at this size
Most 20–30m yachts are built as production or semi-custom models. That makes it possible to compare sisterships directly, but only if you compare like for like: the same model and generation, with its options and engine package.
- Production: defined model, limited options, easiest to compare
- Semi-custom: proven hull with tailored layout and interiors
- Full custom: rare in this size, harder to benchmark
- Model year is not always the build year — check both
- A model name can span several generations with different hulls
- Options and factory upgrades shape value as much as year
Propulsion
IPS, shaft, waterjet, surface drives and outboards
IPS / pods
Joystick docking and efficiency at cruising speed. Service intervals and pod condition are key checks.
Shaft drive
Proven and robust. Check shafts, seals, cutlass bearings and propellers at haul-out.
Waterjet
Shallow draft and high-speed manoeuvring. Check impellers, wear rings and steering hydraulics.
Surface drives
Common on fast performance yachts. Specialist maintenance and handling at low speed.
Outboards
Increasingly seen on fast open yachts near 20m. Check hours, rigging and transom structure.
Stabilisation
Gyro or fin stabilisers transform comfort at anchor. Check service history and which system is fitted.
The propulsion options offered on a model are not always what a particular yacht has. We confirm the actual engines, drives, hours and service records for every yacht we present. Speed and range depend on hull form, load and sea state — treat brochure figures as indicative.
Construction
GRP, carbon and aluminium
- GRP / fibreglass: the most common material at this size; check for osmosis, core moisture and stress cracking
- Carbon: lighter and stiffer, used for performance yachts and rigs; needs specialist inspection
- Aluminium: common on fast and custom yachts; check for corrosion and galvanic issues
- Steel: rare under 30m, mostly on displacement explorers

Berth, beam, draft and registration
- Berth length: marinas charge and allocate by length overall, sometimes including platforms
- Beam: matters for catamarans and narrower Mediterranean berths
- Draft: limits anchorages and some harbours; sailing keels vary widely
- Air draft: bridges, canals and covered storage
- Flag and registration: affect crew, charter and resale
- VAT status: must be documented, never assumed from a listing
Share your marina and berth size and we will shortlist yachts that fit, subject to the marina's own confirmation.

Market intelligence
Pricing in the 20–30m market
There are not yet enough published listings in this size to show reliable price statistics. We do not publish a generic “average 25m yacht price” — value depends on model, generation, engines, hours, options and condition. Ask us for comparables on a specific model. Yacht market intelligence →
Private sourcing
Off-market 20–30m yachts
Many yachts in this size change hands privately or through dealers. With a clear brief, we approach brokers, dealers and owners' representatives discreetly. We cannot promise off-market inventory; every opportunity is confirmed with its owner first.

Buy pre-owned or new?
Many 20–30m models are in current production, so a new yacht can sometimes be delivered faster than in larger sizes. Dealer stock and build slots are new-build opportunities, not off-market yachts; delivery dates and prices must be confirmed by the builder or its dealer. Explore new-build advisory →
Charter and management
Charter potential and management
Some owners offset costs through charter. That depends on flag, commercial coding, crew and location, and charter income is never guaranteed. We can introduce management options for the specific yacht. 20–30m yachts for charter →

20–30m yachts: frequently asked questions
Are there 20–30m yachts for sale with Lund Group right now?
The count at the top of this page is live. When no yachts are published in this size range, we can still search the wider market privately for your brief.
Is a 30m yacht included on this page?
No. This page covers yachts from 20.00m up to, but not including, 30.00m length overall. A yacht of exactly 30m appears on the 30–40m page instead.
What changes at 24 metres?
Many flag states apply large-yacht codes based on load line length, which is not the same as length overall. Whether a specific yacht falls under those rules must be confirmed with its flag, class and surveyor, not assumed from the brochure length.
Can I run a 20–30m yacht myself?
Some owners run smaller yachts in this range themselves. Whether you can depends on the yacht, your qualifications, the flag, where you cruise and how you use it. Many yachts in this size have at least one professional crew member.
How much does a 20–30m yacht cost to own?
It depends on the model, age, crew, berth and how much you use it. We prepare a cost outline for the specific yacht rather than quoting a generic figure.
Will a 20–30m yacht fit my marina berth?
Berths are set by length, beam, draft and sometimes air draft. Share your marina and berth size and we will only shortlist yachts that physically fit, subject to the marina's confirmation.
Is Lund Group affiliated with the builders listed?
No. Lund Group is independent and represents buyers. We are not affiliated with or authorised by any shipyard.
