Day Yacht Charter

A typical day begins with boarding at a port or by tender, a short cruise to a first swim stop, lunch at anchor or ashore, an afternoon of swimming and water toys, and a return in the early evening. Most full days run around six to eight hours, depending on the yacht and operator.

Day charter is not available on every yacht. Many larger yachts only accept weekly charters, and day availability, minimum duration and terms are set by each operator.

Half-day charters (often around four hours) suit a swim and lunch or an afternoon on the water. Sunset charters return as the light goes; evening and dinner charters are offered on some yachts, subject to local rules.

Lunch can be served aboard by the crew or ashore at a beach restaurant, which is usually booked separately.

A beach-club day pairs a yacht with a lunch reservation ashore, reached by tender. Popular clubs fill early in high season, so tables are requested in advance and never guaranteed.

Water toys vary by yacht. Paddleboards and snorkelling are common; jet skis, seabobs and foils depend on the yacht, insurance and local rules, and may carry an extra charge.

Couples often prefer a smaller yacht and a quiet anchorage; families want shade, a swim platform and short passages; groups need the verified day capacity, not the number of berths; companies may want a meeting space or a client lunch.

Day capacity is not overnight capacity. A yacht that sleeps ten may carry more or fewer guests by day depending on its certification and the local rules.

During the Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Lions or the yacht shows, day yachts are in high demand. Minimum durations, rates and cancellation terms often change, and some operators only accept multi-day bookings.

A day charter is a private yacht for leisure, returning the same day. A weekly charter means living aboard and moving between destinations. A yacht transfer is a point-to-point journey, such as Nice to Saint-Tropez, which can sometimes include a swim stop.

Embarkation depends on the yacht's base and berth availability. Where a yacht can't come alongside, the crew collect guests by tender from a jetty or beach. One-way days are sometimes possible, with repositioning costs agreed in advance.

Short-notice days are sometimes possible, but only where a suitable yacht is genuinely free and the crew can provision in time. We never imply availability before the operator confirms it.

The captain decides whether it is safe and comfortable to go out, and where. Wind or swell can change the route or postpone the day; terms for weather cancellations vary by operator and are set out before you book.

Day rates are set by each yacht and operator and are never calculated from the weekly rate. Depending on the contract, fuel, food and drinks, berthing, water toys and VAT may be included or charged on top. Some operators use an APA; others charge fuel by the hour or by consumption.

A crew gratuity is customary. We confirm exactly what is and isn't included before you commit.

In the U.S., the number of passengers a yacht may legally carry for hire depends on its documentation and how the charter is structured. There is no universal guest number that applies to every yacht. We only present yachts whose operators confirm they can legally carry your group.
