Overview

What Can a Falcon 8X Actually Do?

The Falcon 8X combines true intercontinental range with airport flexibility that is unusual for an aircraft of its size. It is Dassault's current in-service long-range Falcon, certified and active in the charter market; the Falcon 10X above it remains in flight test.

The Dassault Falcon 8X is a three-engine long-range business jet, in service since 2016. Clients usually choose it when they want long range together with access to shorter or more demanding airports that larger ultra-long-range jets may not use.

As with any model, the individual aircraft matters more than the name. Layout, shower, connectivity, age and operator differ between aircraft. We confirm the actual aircraft against your route, passengers, luggage and airports.

Range

What Does 6,450 nm Actually Mean?

The published figure

Dassault publishes 6,450 nm with 8 passengers and standard fuel reserves. It is a maximum, not a promise.

Winds and season

Westbound winter headwinds can reduce what is possible nonstop. The operator plans each flight.

Payload

More passengers and luggage reduce the margin on the longest sectors.

Airports

Short, hot or high runways can limit take-off weight and therefore fuel.

Airports

Long Range, Flexible Airports

Every airport is confirmed per flight by the operator; nothing here is a guarantee for a specific aircraft.

Why airports matter

The 8X's appeal is pairing long range with flexible airport performance. Whether a specific airport works is calculated per flight by the operator.

London City

Not assumed. Approvals for steep-approach operations are aircraft and operator specific; we confirm per flight.

Saint-Tropez / La Môle

A restricted short runway with its own approval requirements. Confirmed per flight; Toulon-Hyères or Nice are the usual alternatives.

Mountain airports

Airports such as Sion and Samedan have specific procedures and crew requirements. Confirmed per flight and per operator.

Island runways

Island airports can have short runways, limited handling and weather limits. Confirmed per flight.

Hot and high

Summer heat in the Gulf and Mediterranean can reduce performance. The operator calculates this per flight.

Cabin

Cabin, Shower, Sleeping, Baggage and Wi-Fi

Lounge areas

Dassault offers layouts with up to three lounge areas. Seating and arrangement vary by aircraft.

Shower

A shower is an option, not standard. Confirmed per aircraft.

Sleeping positions

Divans and seats can convert to berths. The berth count is lower than the seat count; confirmed per aircraft.

Passengers

Certified seating and comfortable seating differ. On overnight flights we usually plan fewer passengers than seats.

Baggage

The baggage compartment is accessible in flight. Real capacity depends on bag shapes, skis and golf bags; confirmed per flight.

Galley

Galley equipment varies. Catering is arranged per flight.

Crew rest

Long sectors may need a crew rest area; its presence is confirmed per aircraft.

Connectivity

Systems, coverage and data allowances vary. We confirm the installed system for your route.

Engineering

Three Engines and the Flight Deck

Three engines

The 8X uses three Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307D engines, a Dassault design tradition for long-range Falcons.

Flight deck

Dassault's EASy flight deck, with head-up and enhanced vision options depending on aircraft.

Digital flight controls

The 8X uses digital flight controls derived from Dassault's military programmes.

Missions

Falcon 8X Route Use Cases

Examples only. Feasibility is calculated by the operator for each flight.

Europe → US East Coast

A typical long-range mission. Westbound winter winds and payload are confirmed per flight.

Gulf → Europe

Well within the 8X's range for most city pairs.
