Long-Range Jets

Long-range jets are selected when nonstop intercontinental capability, cabin endurance and mission margin matter more than simply choosing a larger aircraft.

At a glance

Long-Range Jets in Brief

Passengers

Typically 12–19 passengers depending on aircraft and interior configuration.

Typical mission

Intercontinental travel; roughly 5,500–8,000+ nm across the wider category.

Luggage

Substantial baggage, usually with in-flight access.

Cabin

Stand-up cabin with multiple zones; bedrooms and crew rest on some aircraft.

The answer

What Is a Long-Range Jet?

A long-range jet is the largest purpose-built business-jet category, below VIP airliners. Every flight is operated by a licensed operator; LUND GROUP does not own aircraft and sources live availability for your date.

Designed for intercontinental flying

Heavy flies long. Long-Range is designed around intercontinental flying.

Mission margin

Range in hand for winds, payload and alternates on very long sectors.

Long range vs ultra-long range

Around 5,500–6,600 nm models are long range; 7,500 nm+ flagships are usually called ultra-long range.

Moving up

When Long Range Makes Sense

Non-stop intercontinental

Europe–Asia, Gulf–US or South America–Europe without a stop, when the aircraft and day allow.

Cabin endurance

Lower cabin altitude, quieter cabins and zones that make 10+ hour flights more restful.

Sleeping & crew rest

Beds for passengers and, on some aircraft, a crew rest area for augmented crew.

Time saved

Avoiding a technical stop can save hours on the longest sectors.

Stay small

When a Heavy Jet Is Enough

See our heavy jets guide.

Around 4,000 nm sectors

Europe–Gulf or many transatlantic trips are often within heavy-jet range.

A stop is acceptable

A planned technical stop on a heavy jet can be a sensible trade-off.

Budget first

A heavy jet is usually less expensive on the same route.

Moving up again

When a VIP Airliner Makes More Sense

Larger delegations

More than about 19 passengers points to a VIP airliner.

Bespoke interiors

Full bedrooms, meeting rooms and large-group cabins.

Airport trade-off

VIP airliners need larger airports and more planning.

Practicalities

Passengers, Range, Cabin and Baggage

Non-stop vs technical stop

Non-stop depends on winds, payload, temperature, routing and reserves; a stop may be planned. Confirmed per flight.

Range is not a guarantee

Published range is a maximum under defined conditions; real range is calculated by the operator for each flight.

Cabin endurance

Cabin noise, seats and zones matter more as flights pass eight hours.

Cabin altitude & air

Newer models advertise lower cabin altitude and fresh-air systems; figures vary by model.

Cabin zones

Typically three or four zones on flagships, fewer on smaller long-range models.

Bedrooms

A private bedroom exists on some aircraft and layouts, not all. Confirmed per aircraft.

Sleeping capacity

Berths are fewer than seats; we confirm how many passengers can lie flat.

Crew rest

Some aircraft have a crew rest area, which may be needed for augmented crew on the longest sectors.

Flight attendants

Usually one, sometimes two on long flights.

Galley

Long-haul galleys support multiple meal services.

Lavatories & shower

Often two lavatories; a shower exists on very few charter aircraft. Confirmed per aircraft.

Baggage

Substantial capacity, often accessible in flight.

Connectivity

Depends on the individual aircraft's installation and coverage on the route.

Aircraft age & interior

Older long-range jets vary widely in refurbishment; we share actual aircraft photos and details.

Missions

Long-Range Jets in Europe, the Mediterranean and Beyond

São Paulo → Monaco / Nice

Non-stop is possible on some ultra-long-range aircraft; confirmed per flight.

Shanghai → Monaco

An ultra-long sector; winds and permits shape the plan.

Hong Kong → Monaco

Within reach of flagship aircraft on suitable days; confirmed per flight.

Singapore → Monaco

Long sector into Nice; payload and winds decide.

Gulf → United States

A classic ultra-long-range mission; summer heat reduces performance.

Destination page

Hot-weather long range

High temperatures at departure can cut payload or require a stop.

Destination page

Transpacific

Asia–US West Coast is often non-stop on flagships; confirmed per flight.

Europe → Asia

Long-range is the usual choice to avoid a stop.

Europe → South America

Non-stop on suitable aircraft and days.

Monaco

Monaco has no runway; jets use Nice with a helicopter or car transfer.

Destination page

Saint-Tropez

La Môle is not suitable for long-range jets; Nice or Toulon are typical.

Destination page

Santorini

Island constraints usually rule out long-range jets; Athens is the gateway.

What Shapes a Long-Range Jet Quote

Every flight is quoted individually. A long-range jet usually costs more per hour than a heavy jet, but avoiding a technical stop can save hours, fees and crew duty on the longest sectors. One-way flights may include positioning; multi-city trips can include crew overnights. Look for verified empty legs.
