Length is not volume

What is a gigayacht?

There is no official definition. 'Gigayacht' is market shorthand for the very largest private yachts, usually well beyond 100m.

Why gross tonnage matters

At this size, enclosed volume varies enormously between yachts of similar length. Gross tonnage is shown per yacht only where it is recorded.

Guest certification

Many yachts are certified for 12 overnight guests regardless of size. Some 100m+ yachts hold certification for more; we confirm the exact figure per yacht.

Guest and crew circulation

Separate crew corridors, service lifts and staff zones let service happen almost invisibly — confirmed from deck plans.

Why charter a 100m+ yacht?

Mega yacht scale

Exceptional volume, so groups can gather or disappear into private spaces with ease.

Service

A large specialist crew allows hotel-level service, from multiple chefs to spa therapists, confirmed per yacht.

Privacy

Distance at anchor, separate guest domains and discreet tender operations protect the charter.

Logistics

Tenders, aviation links and onboard capability make complex itineraries and hosting possible.

Guests, cabins and layouts

Overnight guests

Usually up to 12 overnight guests, even at this size; some yachts carry more under specific certification. Confirmed for each yacht.

Cruising guests

Day guest limits can differ from overnight guests. We confirm both separately.

Cabins

Cabin counts vary by layout and are not a guest count. We confirm the cabin plan per yacht.

Families and staff

Twin cabins, connecting suites and space for nannies or personal staff are checked case by case.

What does a 100m+ yacht charter cost?

A published rate is never the total cost. Each yacht is quoted in writing for your dates.

Base rate

The weekly rate for the yacht and crew, quoted in writing for your dates and season.

APA

An advance provisioning allowance for fuel, food, drink, berths and running costs.

VAT or charter tax

Depends on country, flag and itinerary, and is set out in your quote.

Berthing

Few berths accept 100m+ yachts; in Monaco or Cannes during events, costs can be significant.

Delivery

May apply if the yacht must travel to meet you.

Aviation and extras

Helicopter flights, private jets, events and security are quoted separately.

Gratuity

A crew gratuity at your discretion.

How APA works

A charter at this size is usually a seven-figure commitment once the base rate, APA, tax and extras are combined. APA is paid in advance as a percentage of the base rate — the exact percentage is set by each yacht's contract and itinerary. The captain spends it on your behalf for fuel, provisions, drinks, berths and communications, keeps receipts, and reconciles the account before you disembark. Unspent funds are returned; any shortfall is settled aboard. Mega yachts burn more fuel and need larger berths, so budget for APA alongside the base rate.

Planning a large-yacht charter

Berths and anchorages

Few marinas take 100m+ yachts; Monaco, Antibes and Porto Cervo berths are especially limited in season and event weeks.

Draft, permits and security

Deeper draft rules out some anchorages. Cruising permits, protected zones and security arrangements vary by country.

Private aviation

Private jets to Nice, Olbia, Palma or Caribbean hubs, with onward transfers — arranged by Lund Group's aviation team.

Helicopters

Helicopter transfers can link airport, yacht and shore. Landing aboard depends on a verified helipad, permits and local rules.

Tenders and chase boats

Multiple tenders move guests ashore; some charters add a support vessel for toys and logistics, quoted separately.

Helipads, beach clubs and amenities

Pools

Some mega yachts have a swimming pool or large deck jacuzzi. Only verified features are listed per yacht.

Beach clubs

Waterline lounges with fold-out platforms are common at this size, but not universal.

Wellness and spa

Gyms, spas, steam rooms and treatment rooms are often found, sometimes with dedicated therapists.

Helipads and toys

Helipad-capable decks, large toy inventories and dive equipment are confirmed per yacht.

Features are confirmed for each yacht. We never assume a helipad, beach club or spa from size alone.

Week or short charter?

Your choices are added to your enquiry.

Large-group yacht charter

Certified overnight capacity

Some 100m+ yachts are certified for more than 12 overnight guests. This depends on flag and certification and is only stated where verified.

Day guests and events

Day and event capacity is separate from overnight capacity and set per yacht and port.

Multi-family groups

Separate decks and suites can suit several families or generations travelling together.

Personal staff

Space for nannies, assistants or security personnel is confirmed against the cabin plan.

Crew infrastructure

Large crew messes, laundries and galleys support high service levels for longer charters.

Privacy

Distance at anchor and separate guest domains protect principals and guests.

Confirmed per yacht, never assumed

Capability at 100m+

Helicopter operations

Private aviation

Lund Group arranges private jets to the nearest airport and onward helicopter or car transfers.

Security

Onboard and shore-side security can be arranged privately and discussed in confidence.

Medical capability

Some yachts carry medical rooms or medically trained crew. We confirm what exists per yacht; nothing is assumed.

Tenders and support vessels

Multiple tenders are standard; some charters include a support vessel for toys, tenders or a helicopter.

Submersibles

A few yachts operate submarines. Availability, pilots and dive rules are confirmed per yacht.

Expedition and remote cruising

Selected yachts with verified range, ice class or expedition equipment can reach remote regions.

Antarctica

Possible only on suitably classed and equipped yachts, under permits and strict environmental rules.

Ports and anchorages

Very few marinas take 100m+ yachts; anchoring and tender operations are often the norm.

Planning a multi-million-euro charter

Base rate

Quoted weekly in the yacht's own currency; rates are not converted or combined.

APA and running costs

Set as a percentage of the base rate in each contract; fuel use at this size is significant.

Tax

VAT or charter tax depends on country, flag and itinerary.

Aviation, security and events

Jets, helicopters, security and event production are quoted separately.

Delivery and berths

Positioning fees and event-week berths can be substantial.

Total expenditure

Your written quote sets out the full figure before you commit.

There is no upper size limit on this page: every published charter yacht of 100.00m and above appears here, however large.

Destinations for 100m+ yachts

Mediterranean

How to choose the right yacht

  • How many guests sleep aboard, and how many join for the day or for events?
  • Do you need space for personal staff, security or family members?
  • Compare gross tonnage and deck plans, not just length.
  • Is helicopter access, a pool or a spa essential — and is it verified for that yacht?
  • Which tenders, toys and dive or wellness crew matter?
  • Which region, which ports can berth the yacht, and how will guests fly in?
