Superyachts for Charter

Private, fully crewed charter of yachts from 30 metres to 100m+.

On Lund Group, a superyacht means a yacht of 30 metres and above — a size category, not a type or class. Every yacht shown comes from Lund Group's active published inventory; dates, rates and availability are confirmed in writing.

Choose by size

What changes with size

Crew and service

More crew usually means more specialised service — chefs, spa staff, nannies, dive instructors — but crew size is recorded per yacht, not assumed from length.

Tenders and toys

Larger yachts can carry more and bigger tenders and toys. Storage and launch systems vary widely.

Amenities

Pools, helipads, cinemas and spas are more common above 60m, but none is guaranteed by size. We show only what is recorded.

Berths

The larger the yacht, the fewer marinas and berths can take her — especially above 100m. Many nights may be at anchor.

Range and seasons

Larger yachts often reposition between the Mediterranean and Caribbean, opening winter and summer programmes.

Size is not experience

A well-run 45m yacht can deliver a better week than a larger one that doesn't suit your group. Fit matters more than length.

Superyacht is a size, not a type

Gross tonnage (GT)

A measure of a yacht's enclosed internal volume, not its weight. Two yachts of the same length can differ greatly in GT. Shown where recorded.

GT is not displacement

Displacement is the yacht's weight. GT describes volume and is used for regulation and fees.

Megayacht and gigayacht

Informal terms for very large yachts. They have no fixed definition; we use metres instead.

30m on Lund Group

Our superyacht category starts at 30 metres. This is an editorial size threshold, not the 24m regulatory line for large commercial yachts, and it says nothing about a yacht's class or certification.

Choose by experience

Guests, cabins and crew

12 guests is a convention, not a rule

Many commercially operated yachts are limited to 12 overnight guests, but some larger yachts are certified for more. We show the figure recorded for each yacht.

Overnight vs event capacity

Day or event capacity is a separate, verified figure and can be much higher than overnight guests.

Cabins and flex cabins

Cabin count is not guest count. Flex cabins convert between uses (for example office or twin), so layouts are confirmed per charter.

Crew

Crew numbers are recorded per yacht. A higher crew-to-guest ratio usually means more personal service.

Large groups

Groups above a yacht's certified overnight limit can split across two yachts or stay partly ashore. We plan this with you.

Amenities, described precisely

Helipad

A touch-and-go deck is different from a hangar. A helipad does not mean landings are approved — that depends on certification, the aircraft, weather and local rules.

Pool vs jacuzzi

A pool is for swimming; a jacuzzi or deck spa pool is for soaking. We label them separately.

Beach club vs swim platform

A beach club is a furnished sea-level lounge; a swim platform is a deck for water access. They are not the same.

Spa

Ranges from a massage room to a full spa with sauna and hammam. Therapists may or may not be crew.

Cinema

A dedicated cinema room, distinct from a TV lounge.

Elevator and accessibility

An elevator helps but does not make a yacht fully accessible. Specific needs are checked with the crew.

Owner's deck and tenders

A private owner's deck adds privacy. Tender size and number shape what excursions are possible.

Where superyachts charter

Most superyachts follow the seasons: the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean in winter. A yacht's current position is where she is now, not necessarily where she charters. Yachts of 100m+ need berths or anchorages that can take them, which we check for every itinerary.

What a superyacht charter costs

The base rate is never the total cost. Each charter is quoted in writing.

Base rate

The yacht and crew for the period. It is not the total charter cost.

APA

Advance Provisioning Allowance, often a percentage of the base rate, for fuel, food, drinks, berths and fees, reconciled at the end.

Fuel

Usually paid from APA. Depends heavily on hours under way and speed; on large yachts it can be substantial.

Delivery and redelivery

If you embark away from the yacht's base, delivery fees may apply.

Tax

VAT or local charter tax depends on yacht, flag and cruising area, and is confirmed in writing.

Gratuity

Customary but discretionary, paid to the crew at the end of the charter.

Day charters and minimums

Many superyachts only charter by the week. Day charters, where offered, are priced separately.

Questions about superyacht charter

What is a superyacht?

On Lund Group, a superyacht is a yacht of 30 metres and above. It describes size, not propulsion or class.

Isn't the threshold 24 metres?

24m is a common regulatory line for large commercial yachts. Our 30m superyacht category is a separate editorial threshold.

Is every motor yacht a superyacht?

No. A 25m motor yacht is not a superyacht; a 40m sailing yacht is.

Can a superyacht be a sailing yacht?

Yes. Sailing yachts of 30m+ are sailing superyachts.

Can a superyacht be an explorer?

Yes, where the yacht is verified as an explorer. Explorer is a mission, not a size.

Why do the motor and superyacht counts look similar?

Our current charter fleet happens to be mostly 30m+ motor yachts. The two pages use different rules and will diverge as the fleet changes.

What is gross tonnage?

A measure of internal volume, not weight. It helps compare how spacious yachts of similar length are.

Can a superyacht take more than 12 guests?

Some can, where certified. Many are limited to 12 overnight guests. Event capacity is separate.

How many crew are on a superyacht?

It varies by yacht. Crew numbers are shown where recorded.

Do 100m+ yachts go everywhere?

No. Very large yachts need suitable berths or anchorages; some ports and bays cannot take them.

Do all superyachts have a pool?

No. Pools are shown only where recorded for a yacht.

Can we land a helicopter?

Only on yachts with a suitable helideck and the right approvals. A helipad on a yacht does not guarantee landings.

Can we hold an event aboard?

Only with verified event capacity and permissions. See our party and corporate pages.

How much does a superyacht charter cost?

It depends on yacht, size, season and region. The base rate excludes APA, tax, delivery and gratuity, all confirmed in writing.

What is APA?

An advance for running costs such as fuel, food and berths, reconciled at the end of the charter.

Are rates comparable across currencies?

We compare rates only within the same currency and never convert EUR and USD for sorting.

Is gratuity included?

No. It is customary and discretionary, paid to the crew at the end.

Can I charter a superyacht for a day?

Some yachts accept day charters. Many charter only by the week.

What is the minimum charter?

Usually one week in high season; shorter terms depend on the yacht.

What if I need a yacht that isn't listed?

We search the wider charter market privately and send three to five verified options with reasons.

Will you send me a long list?

No. We send a short, reasoned shortlist rather than a database dump.

Is current position where the yacht charters?

Not necessarily. Current position is where she is now; charter areas are where she operates.

Which destinations suit superyachts?

The Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean in winter are the main seasons, with Indian Ocean and other areas for some yachts.

What does refit mean for me?

A recent refit can update interiors and systems. Refit year is shown separately from build year.

Is a beach club the same as a swim platform?

No. A beach club is a furnished sea-level lounge; a swim platform is for water access.

Are superyachts accessible?

Some have elevators, but accessibility needs are checked per yacht with the crew.

What is a megayacht?

An informal term for a very large yacht. We use length in metres instead.

Can you arrange private flights?

Yes. Private aviation to the embarkation port can be arranged and quoted separately.

Does Lund Group own these yachts?

No. Lund Group arranges private charters; ownership and management are separate.

Are availability and rates published?

Rates may be shown as guidance where published; availability and final terms are confirmed in writing.
