60–70m or 70–80m?

60–70m70–80m
Interior volumeTypically four or five decks, often with a private owner's deck and several salons.Generally more volume, with larger owner's suites and more separate social spaces.
CrewOften a crew in the high teens to low twenties, depending on the yacht.Larger crews again, often with dedicated spa, dive, security or tender roles.
Deck spacesLarge sundecks and frequently a beach club at the waterline.More likely to add a gym, spa room or helipad-capable deck, confirmed per yacht.
Toys and tendersA main tender, jet skis and water toys are common.Larger tender garages and a wider toy inventory are more common.

These are typical patterns, not rules. Each yacht's layout, crew and equipment are confirmed individually.

Length is not volume

Gross tonnage

Two 70m yachts can feel very different. Gross tonnage measures enclosed volume and is often a better guide to space than length.

Beam and decks

A wider beam and an extra deck add salons, cabins and outdoor areas without adding length.

Compare like for like

We compare layout, volume, crew and cabin plans side by side, not length alone.

Why charter a 60–80m yacht?

Major superyacht scale

Multiple decks and separate social spaces, so guests can be together or apart with ease.

Service

A larger crew allows more personal service, from chef-led dining to water-sports guidance.

Comfort at anchor

Length and weight usually mean steadier days at anchor; stabilisers vary by yacht and are confirmed.

Amenities

Beach clubs, spas, gyms and extensive toy inventories are common at this size, confirmed per yacht.

Guests, cabins and layouts

Overnight guests

Most commercially registered yachts accommodate up to 12 overnight guests, even at this size; some carry more under specific certification, depending on flag and certification. Confirmed for each yacht.

Cruising guests

Day guest limits can differ from overnight guests. We confirm both separately.

Cabins

Commonly six to nine cabins: a master, VIPs and double or twin cabins. Cabins are not a guest count.

Families

Twin cabins and Pullman berths can suit families; we check layout, safety equipment and crew experience.

What does a 60–80m yacht charter cost?

A published rate is never the total cost. Each yacht is quoted in writing for your dates.

Base rate

The weekly rate for the yacht and crew, quoted in writing for your dates and season.

APA

An advance provisioning allowance for fuel, food, drink, berths and running costs.

VAT or charter tax

Depends on country, flag and itinerary, and is set out in your quote.

Berthing

Berths for yachts over 50m are limited in popular ports and can be significant in high season.

Delivery

May apply if the yacht must travel to meet you.

Gratuity

A crew gratuity at your discretion.

How APA works

APA is a percentage of the base rate paid in advance — commonly quoted between 25% and 40% depending on the yacht and itinerary. The captain spends it on your behalf for fuel, provisions, drinks, berths and communications, keeps receipts, and reconciles the account before you disembark. Any unspent balance is returned; any shortfall is settled aboard.

Planning a large-yacht charter

Berths

Few marinas accept yachts over 60m; Monaco, Antibes and Porto Cervo berths are limited in season.

Draft and anchorages

Deeper draft can rule out some anchorages; tenders bridge the gap.

Delivery and positioning

Repositioning between regions can add delivery fees and fuel.

Permits and rules

Cruising permits, protected zones and local charter licences vary by country.

Helipads, beach clubs and amenities

Helipads

Some yachts have a touch-and-go or certified helipad. Landing rules, flights and permits are arranged separately.

Beach clubs

Waterline lounges with fold-out platforms are common, but not universal.

Wellness

Gyms, spas, steam rooms or massage rooms are often found at this size.

Tenders and toys

Multiple tenders, jet skis and diving equipment are common; inventory is confirmed per yacht.

Features are confirmed for each yacht. We never assume a helipad, beach club or spa from size alone.

How to choose the right yacht

  • How many guests will sleep aboard, and how many will join for the day?
  • Do you need twin cabins for children or friends?
  • Compare gross tonnage and deck plans, not just length.
  • Ask about zero-speed stabilisers for time at anchor.
  • Which toys, tenders and wellness features matter?
  • Which region, and how far between anchorages?
