Private Catamaran Search
Zero public listings today reflects our published collection, not the market. Tell us your dates and how you want to use the yacht; a Lund Group adviser checks the charter market and replies with three to five verified options. We do not claim to hold hidden or off-market inventory.

What makes a catamaran different
Beam, not just length
A catamaran's beam (width) can be about half its length. That creates space, but beam also affects berth cost and whether a marina has a suitable berth. LOA alone does not describe a catamaran.
Draft
Many catamarans draw less than monohulls of similar length, opening some shallower bays. ‘Shallow draft’ is a relative term: anchorages are still checked per yacht.
Shallow draft is not beaching
Charter catamarans are not normally run onto beaches. Landing is by tender, at the captain's discretion.
Daggerboards and centreboards
Some sailing catamarans use retractable boards to sail closer to the wind. Draft changes when they are lowered; we record minimum and maximum separately.
Bridgedeck clearance
The height between the water and the deck joining the hulls. Clearance affects how the yacht feels in waves. We describe it only where measured.
Stability and heel
Catamarans heel very little under sail and roll less at anchor than many monohulls. They still move — a short, quick motion is possible in some seas.
Seasickness
Many guests find less heel and roll more comfortable, but no yacht guarantees anyone will not feel seasick. Sheltered itineraries help.
Space
Living space is spread across one level, plus foredeck and often a flybridge. We use recorded areas and layouts rather than general claims.
Cabins and privacy
Cabins are usually split between the two hulls, which can give couples or families good separation. The master cabin position varies by design.
Crew areas
Crew cabins are often in the hull ends. Crew numbers and service level are recorded per yacht.
Sailing catamaran vs power catamaran
| Sailing catamaran | Power catamaran | |
|---|---|---|
| Propulsion | Sails, with auxiliary engines | Twin engines |
| Pace | Set partly by the wind | Set by the schedule and sea state |
| Air draft | Mast height limits some bridges | Usually lower; checked per yacht |
| Range | Under sail, limited mainly by wind and provisions; under engine, by fuel | Limited by fuel and speed |
| Fuel | Often lower, but generators and engines still run | Depends on speed and hours under way |
| Manoeuvring | Twin engines help in harbour | Twin engines help, but wind and space still limit what is possible |
Catamaran or motor yacht?
A power catamaran trades some interior volume in the hulls for wide, level deck space and less roll at anchor. Catamarans are not always faster or always more fuel-efficient — it depends on design, weight and speed.
CompareCatamaran or sailing monohull?
A monohull heels and usually points higher into the wind; a sailing catamaran stays flatter and offers more open living space.
CompareCatamaran or superyacht?
Not opposites. Superyacht describes size, commonly 30m+. Large catamarans can be superyachts.
CompareSolar is not zero-emission
Solar panels can cover part of the hotel load. Most charter catamarans still use generators and engines; we never describe a charter as zero-emission.
Electric range
Electric or hybrid propulsion range is shown only where verified, with conditions and speed stated.
On board
Tender and toys
Storage for tenders and toys varies widely between catamarans. We list what each yacht carries.
Hydraulic aft platform
A lowering platform between the hulls for swimming and tender launch. It is described as a platform, not automatically as a beach club.
Diving
Only yachts with verified diving equipment and staff are suggested for diving charters.
Learn moreWhere to charter a catamaran
- Bahamas
Clear, shallow water where a moderate draft can widen choice. Not every bank or cay is accessible — routes are checked per yacht.
- British Virgin Islands
Short passages between islands with many anchorages.
- Caribbean
Winter-season island hopping, with both sailing and power options.
- Greece
Island passages and anchorages; strong summer winds in parts of the Aegean are planned around.
- Croatia
Many islands close together. Wide-beam berths in popular marinas should be booked early.
- Balearic Islands
Anchoring rules protect Posidonia seagrass; the captain chooses permitted spots.
- French Riviera
Marina berths for wide catamarans can be limited and costly in high season.
Anchor-led itinerary
Most nights at anchor. Plays to a catamaran's strengths: space, stability and swimming from the platform.
Marina-led itinerary
More nights in port. In busy Mediterranean marinas, wide-beam berths are scarcer and may cost more, so fit is checked using both LOA and beam.
How much does a catamaran charter cost?
A published rate is never the total charter cost. Each yacht is quoted in writing.
Base rate
The yacht and crew for the period. Rates vary by yacht, season and region, so we do not publish a market ‘from’ price.
APA
Advance Provisioning Allowance for food, drink, fuel, berths and fees, reconciled at the end of the charter.
Berthing
Wide beam can mean higher marina fees or fewer suitable berths. Anchor-led itineraries reduce this cost.
Fuel — sailing catamaran
Often modest, but engines and generators still run on calm days and at anchor.
Fuel — power catamaran
Depends heavily on speed and hours under way. Slower cruising usually uses much less.
Tax
VAT or local charter taxes depend on the yacht, flag and cruising area and are confirmed in writing.
Day charters
Some catamarans accept day charters; pricing is separate, not the weekly rate divided by seven.
Private aviation
Flights to the embarkation port can be arranged and quoted separately.

You receive three to five options — not a directory — with costs explained.
Questions about catamaran charter
How many catamarans does Lund Group currently list for charter?
The live count is at the top of this page. Today no published catamarans are listed. That reflects our published collection, not the wider market.
Can you still find a catamaran for me?
Yes. We search the charter market privately for your dates and send three to five verified options. We do not claim to hold hidden or off-market inventory.
What is the difference between a sailing and a power catamaran?
A sailing catamaran uses sails with engines in support; a power catamaran is engine-driven. They are separate types with different costs and pace.
Is a power catamaran a motor yacht?
It is engine-driven, but it is listed here as a power catamaran, not on the motor yacht page.
Is a sailing catamaran a sailing yacht?
On Lund Group, sailing catamarans are listed separately from sailing monohulls.
Why does beam matter?
Beam creates space but affects berthing cost and which marinas can take the yacht.
Do I need to choose a beam?
No. Tell us guests, region and style; we handle the technical fit.
Is berthing more expensive for a catamaran?
Often, in busy marinas, because berths are priced or allocated by size including beam. Anchor-led itineraries reduce this.
Can a catamaran go into shallower water?
Many draw less than monohulls of similar length, but each anchorage is still checked for the specific yacht.
Can a catamaran be beached?
Charter catamarans are not normally beached. Guests go ashore by tender.
Are catamarans more stable?
They heel very little and usually roll less at anchor. They can still have a quick motion in some seas.
Will I get seasick on a catamaran?
Many guests feel more comfortable, but no yacht can guarantee it. Sheltered routes help.
Do catamarans have more space?
Often more open deck and living area for their length. Interior volume in the hulls varies by design.
Are catamarans faster?
Not always. Speed depends on design, weight, sea state and, for sailing catamarans, wind.
Are catamarans more fuel-efficient?
Not always. It depends on speed, weight and hours under way.
Are solar-powered catamarans zero-emission?
No. Solar can cover some loads, but generators and engines are still used on most charters.
What is a daggerboard?
A retractable board under a sailing catamaran's hull that improves upwind sailing and changes draft.
What is bridgedeck clearance?
The gap between the water and the deck joining the hulls; it affects comfort in waves.
Are catamarans good for families?
Often, thanks to level decks and separate hulls. Nets, rails and crew experience are confirmed per yacht.
Are catamarans good for couples?
Cabin separation across two hulls can give good privacy.
How many guests can a catamaran take?
Overnight guests are usually limited to 12 on commercially operated yachts. Day or event capacity is a separate verified figure.
Are catamarans good in the Bahamas?
A moderate draft can widen route options in the Bahamas, but not every bank or cay is accessible. Routes are checked per yacht.
Are catamarans good in the Mediterranean?
Yes for anchor-led itineraries. In busy marinas, wide-beam berths are limited, so we plan berths early.
How much does a catamaran charter cost?
It depends on yacht, size, season and region. APA, berthing, tax and delivery are additional and quoted in writing.
What is APA?
An advance for running costs such as food, drink, fuel and berths, reconciled at the end of the charter.
Can I charter a catamaran for a day?
Some yachts accept day charters; terms are set per yacht.
Can you arrange private flights?
Yes. Private aviation to the embarkation port can be arranged and quoted separately.
Do you list trimarans here?
No. This page covers sailing and power catamarans only.
Does Lund Group own these yachts?
No. Lund Group arranges private charters; ownership and management are separate.
Are availability and rates published?
No. Both change quickly and are confirmed in writing for your dates.
