Yachts for Charter with Helipads

Charter yachts with verified helicopter capability — from touch-and-go decks to certified helidecks — confirmed in the Lund Group fleet record, never assumed from marketing or length.

A helipad does not mean any helicopter can land. Every flight depends on the aircraft, the pilot, the weather and local permissions, and is confirmed in writing. Dates, rates and availability are confirmed in writing.

A helipad does not mean every helicopter, every landing or every passenger transfer is possible. Each flight is confirmed with the captain, operator and authorities.

Understanding helicopter capability

Certified helideck

Meets a recognised standard for weight, size, markings, lighting and fire-fighting. Needed for most commercial flights.

Touch-and-go

The helicopter can land briefly to drop off or pick up guests, but cannot stay on deck.

Landing and parking

A helicopter can land and remain on deck, subject to its size and weight.

Hangar or storage

A covered space to carry a helicopter aboard, usually only on the largest yachts.

Why charter a yacht with a helipad?

Arrive directly

Fly from an airport or heliport straight to the yacht where the deck, pilot and permissions allow.

Reach remote anchorages

Helicopter access can save hours of tender or road travel.

Privacy

Transfers avoid busy marinas and public quays.

Sightseeing

Scenic flights from the yacht, subject to local airspace rules.

Aircraft, permissions and safety

Helicopter type and weight

Each deck has a maximum weight and size. The helicopter must fit both, with fuel and passengers.

Permissions

Flights need approval from the captain, the operator, the yacht's flag and local aviation authorities.

Day and night

Many decks are cleared for daylight only. Night flying needs extra lighting and approval.

Safety on deck

Trained crew, fire-fighting equipment and clear procedures are required for every landing.

What does a yacht with a helipad cost to charter?

A published rate is never the total cost. Each yacht is quoted in writing for your dates.

Base rate

The weekly rate for the yacht and crew, quoted in writing for your dates and season.

APA

An advance for fuel, food, drink, berths and running costs, reconciled at the end.

VAT or charter tax

Depends on country, flag and itinerary; confirmed in the contract.

Helicopter charter

Flights are quoted separately by the helicopter operator.

Landing and fuel

Landing fees, aviation fuel and positioning are charged separately where they apply.

Delivery fees

Charged when the yacht must reposition to start or end where you want.

How APA works

The Advance Provisioning Allowance is paid with the charter fee, commonly around 30–40% of the base rate. The captain spends it on running costs and gives you a full account; helicopter flights are usually contracted and paid separately.

Planning with private aviation

Jet to the nearest airport

Fly privately to the closest suitable airport, such as Nice for Monaco and the Riviera.

Helicopter to the yacht

A licensed operator flies you onward, where the yacht's deck and permissions allow it.

Back-up plan

If weather or rules prevent a landing, a tender or car transfer is arranged instead.

One point of contact

Lund Group can coordinate the jet, helicopter and yacht together.

Lund Group aviation

Features are confirmed for each yacht. Helicopter and jet flights are arranged with licensed operators and quoted separately.

Week or short charter?

Your choices are added to your enquiry.

Where to charter a yacht with a helipad

Mediterranean

Busy airspace and strict local rules; landings are planned well in advance.

Monaco and the Riviera

Short helicopter hops from Nice are common; landing on a yacht needs specific approval.

Caribbean and remote regions

Helicopter access can open up islands and anchorages far from airports.

Rules on landing helicopters on yachts vary by country and can change. We confirm what is allowed for your itinerary before any flight is promised.

Regional notes, not claims about where any listed yacht is today.

Helipad yachts for events

Celebrations, client days and small receptions are possible within each yacht's verified guest capacity, flag rules and local regulations. Day guest limits often differ from overnight numbers.

Helipad yachts by size and type

80–100m yachts

Where helipads become more common.

100m+ yachts

The largest yachts, some with hangars.

Explorer yachts

Built for remote cruising, often with helicopter support.

How to choose the right yacht

  • Confirm the deck's capability type: certified, touch-and-go, landing area or hangar.
  • Check the maximum weight and size against the helicopter you plan to use.
  • Ask whether day and night flying are allowed.
  • Confirm permissions for your cruising area before relying on flights.
  • Plan a back-up transfer by tender or car.
  • Get the full cost in writing, with helicopter costs quoted separately.

How a private helipad-yacht search works

  1. 01

Tell us your dates, guests, region and how you want to use a helicopter.

  2. 02

We check the published fleet and verify each yacht's helicopter capability.

  3. 03

You receive verified options, with aviation details confirmed in writing.

  4. 04

We coordinate the yacht, helicopter operator and any private jet.

Beyond the published fleet

Not every yacht is listed publicly. Tell us what you need and a Lund Group adviser checks the wider charter market and verifies helicopter capability. We do not claim hidden or off-market inventory; every option is confirmed in writing.

Questions about yachts with helipads

What is a yacht helipad?

A deck area on a yacht verified for helicopter landing. What it allows depends on its rating, the helicopter and the permissions.

What is the difference between a helipad and a helideck?

On this page, 'helideck' means a deck commercially certified to a recognised standard. Other verified decks are called helipads.

How do you decide which yachts appear here?

Only published charter yachts whose helicopter capability is verified in our fleet record. Marketing wording alone never counts.

Can any helicopter land on a yacht with a helipad?

No. The helicopter must suit the deck's weight and size limits, and the pilot and operator must approve.

What does touch-and-go mean?

The helicopter lands briefly to drop off or collect guests, then leaves. It cannot stay on deck.

Can a helicopter stay on the yacht?

Only where parking, storage or a hangar is verified.

Do I need a certified helideck for a commercial flight?

Usually yes. Commercial passenger flights generally need a certified deck and suitable permissions.

Can I bring my own helicopter?

Possibly, if it suits the deck and the flights are approved. We confirm details with the captain.

Can helicopters land at night?

Only where the deck is equipped and approved for night operations. Many are daylight only.

Can the helicopter refuel on board?

Only where refuelling is verified. Most yachts do not offer it.

Is landing on a yacht allowed everywhere?

No. Rules vary by country and area; some places restrict or ban landings.

Can I fly into Monaco and land on a yacht?

Helicopter transfers from Nice to Monaco are common. Landing on a yacht needs specific approval for each flight.

What if the weather is bad?

The captain and pilot decide. A tender or car transfer is arranged as a back-up.

Who flies the helicopter?

A licensed pilot from an approved operator, unless your own crew and aircraft are approved.

How much does a helicopter transfer cost?

It depends on the aircraft, distance and fees. Flights are quoted separately from the charter.

Are landing fees included in the charter?

Usually not. Landing, fuel and positioning costs are quoted separately.

What size yacht has a helipad?

Helipads are most common on yachts over about 70m, but size alone never qualifies a yacht.

Do explorer yachts have helipads?

Some do. Each one is verified, never assumed.

Can you arrange a private jet too?

Yes. Lund Group can coordinate a private jet, a helicopter and the yacht together.

Is a helicopter useful for events like the Grand Prix?

It can save time, but airspace is busy and rules are strict. Plan early.

Is the helipad also used for other things?

On many yachts it doubles as a sun deck or dining area when not in use.

Does a helipad affect guest numbers?

No. Guest limits come from the yacht's certification.

Can children fly to the yacht?

Usually, subject to the operator's rules and safety briefings.

Are there safety rules on deck?

Yes. Trained crew, fire equipment and clear procedures are required for every landing.

Can I see the helipad details before booking?

We request the verified specification, including limits and permissions, before you book.

What if no yacht matches my dates?

Send a private search and we check the wider market, verifying helicopter capability.

Is Lund Group affiliated with any shipyard or operator?

No. Lund Group is independent.

Are flights guaranteed?

No. Every flight depends on the weather, the aircraft, the crew and the permissions.

How quickly will you reply?

Usually within one working day, often sooner.
